Abolition Rising
|
Welcome!
On behalf of the NCADP Board of Directors, I am very pleased to issue this Call to Conference for NCADP 2006. NCADP 2006: Abolition Rising. The death penalty abolition movement continues to gain momentum, and in the past few years, is achieving major wins in state capitals and in the courts. By continuing to use our resources wisely, to work together, and to encourage an increasingly sympathetic American public to the movement, we will abolish the death penalty in the United States.
Our conference will provide a wonderful opportunity to meet, to discuss, to plan, to learn, and to network with others to help make the movement more effective. I am excited about the high level of interaction that we are planning for this conference on issues of lobbying and legislative strategy, of how to build an effective infrastructure to sustain a long-term grassroots campaign, effective ways of using research in lobbying efforts and ways to form partnerships and communicate effectively both internally and externally.
This year, NCADP's 30th Anniversary Celebration, is also a unique opportunity to recognize some unique individuals who have made special contribution to our struggle. This incredible group of people who will be with us at this year's awards dinner are listed on the website. You will have an opportunity to hear from them at the dinner and be inspired by their achievements and continued commitment to saving lives and abolishing the death penalty.
I look forward to seeing you in Fairfax, Virginia on October 27-29, 2006. Also, we welcome you to join us October 26th for the Councel of Affiliates meeting at 3pm, followed by the Annual Membership meeting at 4:30pm. That evening, there will be a screening of Race to Execute, a film by Rachel Lyon & Jim Lopes.
